VA Benefits Workshop To Be Held At Casper Platoon Reunion 2011

To assist Caspers who are planning to file for "Service Connected" VA Compensation, we will be conducting a Benefits Workshop that will be held during the Casper Platoon Reunion next summer in Nashville.

If you are interested, there will be Service Representatives from different military service organizations present on Monday, June 27, 2011 to assist you in this process.  They will have the proper benefits forms and the knowledge to help you file for a new claim or increasing your existing C & P rating.

Disability compensation is a benefit paid to a veteran because of injuries or diseases that happened while on active duty, or were made worse by active military service. It is also paid to certain veterans disabled from VA health care. The benefits are tax-free.

If you have not already filed for VA Compensation, please consider your exposure to Agent Orange and PTSD symptoms that may exist, along with other injuries you may have received in Vietnam.  It would help your case if you have already filed and receive VA Healthcare.  If not, please apply at your closest VA Medical Center and get your VA Healthcare ID Card.  When you do this, you will be require to show your discharge or separation papers (DD214) so you should locate it now before you do anything else.  If you cannot find your DD214, you can request a copy of it from the National Archives at:

http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/dd-214.html

You will also need your DD214 with you in Nashville if you're planning to seek assistance at the workshop.

Steve Greene, past CAPO President is the Workshop Coordinator and will be setting everything up.  If you have any questions or ideas to share with him or you would be interested in being a counselor at the workshop, please contact Steve directly at: greenaire@mac.com.
